This status comprises of a series of point requirements that must be met in the following three categories over the course of the student’s time as an active member.
Attendance= 5 point min.
Leadership= 4 point min.
Community Service= 5 point min.
This system was established in the Spring of 2020 to encourage our members to be more involved and to help strengthen their candidacy potential for job and internship opportunities.
Achieving minimum requirements for active member status also includes, but is not limited to, various incentives like discounted or free admission to the Annual Banquet and opportunities for recognition. The Membership Director is responsible for tracking this information.
What are the minimum requirements?
Attendance points are earned by attending meetings and WIB events. To be considered active, members must at least 5 events. This includes general board meetings and socials. One point will be awarded for each Women in Business hosted event. Extra credit points will be awarded for attending collaborative events with other organizations. We require a minimum requirement of 5 points per semester in the Attendance Category. Leadership points can be earned, but are not limited to, performing the following actions: participating in general board meetings, volunteering, applying for the intern program in the Fall, running for an executive board position in the Spring, or earning official professional certifications to build their resumes. To be considered active, we require a minimum of 4 points per semester in the Leadership Category.
Community service involves participating in a community service event. These points can be earned outside of Women in Business or through Women in Business hosted volunteer work with proper documentation. To be considered active, we require a minimum of 5 hours of community service per semester. Each hour serves as 1 point in the Community service category.
What happens if I can't meet this requirements?
Certain incentives and opportunities will not be open to active members. However, we understand that life happens. If something is impeding your ability to be an active member and you would like to be considered active, accommodations can be made. Please talk to our executive board and we will work something out with you. This system, once again, is designed to help you.
Our goal is to foster success in your career and in life. Let us know how we can help and we will do everything we can!
How can I check my progress?
We will be posting an excel sheet on this page soon that includes your status. If there is a discrepancy, come talk to us to work it out. E-mail our membership director at [email protected] to make an appointment during office hours at the Student Life and Leadership Office (SLL).
